separated by a common language
separated by a common language is an incredibly entertaining look at the differences between American English and British English as seen by an American linguist living in the UK. Whether it's word usage, phrases that don't quite carry over, or ways that Americans and Britons use and understand particular ideas -- it's a lot more than the difference between 'color' and 'colour.' Perhaps for English learners, the idea that such huge variations can exist is devastating, but for us this blog is very interesting, and a lot of fun.
