Language Log

Language Log was started up by two linguistics professors in 2003, and is now the collaborative effort of over 18 different contributors, many who are involved in academia. They discuss academic language-related issues and the intersection of language with such issues as politics and media. It's not light reading -- unless you enjoy things like dissecting the uses of the active and passive voice in newspaper editorials -- but the material is definitely fascinating, and you'll feel more intelligent for having taken a look.
