The Blog Translation news and updates from the myGengo team

myGengo launches English to Polish and Traditional Chinese!

Does the number 38 ring a bell? Any gambler knows there are 38 slots on a roulette wheel. Sci-fi geeks will quickly point out the fact that a Stargate will only stay open for 38 seconds. But if you’re a translator, without a doubt you must be thinking "The number of language pairs supported by myGengo!"  ...And as of yesterday, you'd be correct.   Available Now! For the uninitiated, that’s 38 different combinations of languages, completely supported by qualified human translators, available for immediate ordering. Heck, if you’re a translator yourself, that could even mean... Read more

myGengo in Zurich: Drupal Goes Global

Back in January, we were contacted by MD Systems about a hackathon they were putting on in Zurich, Switzerland, to enhance internationalization and localization tools for the Drupal Content Management System (CMS). Drupal, one of the most widely deployed CMS, is regularly employed by Sony, Warner Brothers, Fast Company, The Economist and more. At myGengo, we think our API and focus on quality, affordable human translation would be a great fit for any Drupal site that's looking to localize into another language, so we made an effort to get out to Zurich to support the cause. Introducing Miki Nakata to myGengo

Meet Miki Nakata, one of the newest members of our Japanese corporate salesforce. Miki comes to us after working as a freelance copywriter, interpreter and translator in New York and her hometown of New Jersey. As a member of the Japanese sales team, Miki will serve as the in-between for customers and myGengo, in order to help us better integrate into the local business environment. Come say hi to her at myGengo's Tokyo office, where you can find her working with myGengo's Japanese corporate clients (and mourning Japan's sad lack of honeycrisp apples). Read more

Remembering Steve Jobs (Part II)

Kenji Yamamoto, the former VP of Apple Japan and our current CRO, wrote an article remembering his experiences with Steve Jobs, Apple's CEO, who passed away on October 5. Originally published on Yamamoto's personal website, this is our translation of his post, which originally appeared here. This is the second of two parts — this first part is here. At the time, I was trying to decide whether to accept a job offer to become a COO of a large public company. Unquestionably, this offer was for a prestigious position. It was an excellent B2B company, but on the inside, I simply did n... Read more

Geeks on a Plane: South America

Last May, we traveled to Chile as part of the Geeks on a Plane South America event, and had some great experiences and met some amazing people.  In case you aren't familiar with it, Geeks on a Plane is a seasonal tour organized by 500 Startups that brings investors and startups on tours of areas that are rapidly becoming technology hotspots. They just wrapped up an East Asia tour, and they'll be hitting the roads again in December for a tour of India. We'll be posting a recap of our CEO Robert Laing's trip to China with the GOAP crew shortly. But for now, check out our CTO Matt... Read more
