We came across this great presentation on Slideshare by Jed Schmidt called "Translation as vocation: A primer for newbies." It's a quick and informative presentation on the ins and outs of becoming a freelance translator. It gives you the good ("TiVo your life, and toss your alarm clock"), the bad ("isolation...you are HR, accounting and sanitation") and the ugly (we'll leave that one to your imagination). And even if you've been a freelance translator for awhile...you're sure to pick up on a few pointers that you may have neglected or forgotten about over the years.
